On Brand, Off Brand.

Building a brand from something is difficult. Building a brand from *nothing* is doubly so.

This might all seem like a joke to you, and I assure you it is. That doesn't mean we can't still build something worthwhile, pleasant, and of value, does it? When I began making this (incredibly simple and tiny) game way back in the year twenty-aught-ninety-17 ish... it was sincere, hopeful, and not more than I could chew. I have made small art games for myself before using plug and play programs. I've made a few more since then. They live on my main page. But what I tried to have this be was a reason to learn how to write code. And after all this time, I just can't do it. I don't have the ability to make that a reality. I had to make myself believe I could keep up the joke of being completely incompetent as I tried to write it up... I had to build a brand out of that conceit... but I haven't even been able to Hello World into this concept, which stalled even that bit into tedious drudgery.

But what I CAN do is finally let that tiny part of me go. I'm not gonna code anything. Full stop. So... I think I'm done letting this work be a joke. It won't be what I envisioned, but it will have a lot of what I designed for it. And I think without the roadblock of coding requirements I need to let the gimmick die, and the game live. *Real Grandiose Stuff* happening here.

(Disclaimer: I am legally obliged to acknowledge that the above paragraphs are also possibly in service of my long-form narrative experience satire/parody. Also though that might maybe just be accidentally so and that I'm being genuine. I am not allowed to confirm in either case.)

LET'S ART!

I do have the pixel art figured out for this. But to get back into the love of creating I took time to concept some cartoons of some themed groups: Let's look:

Acrobat Pirates:

Ronin Jumps:

The NecroBros:

The Imaginary "Secret Developer E-Team" unlockables:

Two Goblins and a Garbage Wizard:

NOTE: None of these units are guaranteed to make the cut. Except maybe the Raccoon.

So now I'm going to take the rest of this week to re-read my previous posts to make sure going forward I have a sense of narrative cohesiveness in future posts, suss out where my mindset was at different points, and build a tiny thing I will be happy to let go of.

See you in either a week or 18 months!

So hey.

Do you need help with coding? I mean from what I gathered of your posts, you seem to struggle with it a bit?

I didn't completely gather what you are trying to do with gameplay, but something with rock paper scissor?

I could totaly help you with that if you want.

Cheers,

KorbohneD

TL;DR: If I can't pawn this one off on my progeny, I'll hit you up.

Thanks for the offer KorbohneD! Part of the original task was for me to learn the coding aspect of game-making using this fairly straightforward rock-paper-scissors mechanic and simple art. This was YEARS ago, and the entire game project morphed into a joke of epic procrastination and failure as my professional, artistic, and family lives grew and developed. I have a great understanding of Construct and could technically complete this game and let it go... but am not sure I want to yet. Also... I am OLD now and might pass the burden of this project to my teenage children, because that would be the funniest thing for me to do with all the art sitting in its project bin wasting away.
